Backpack Rifle Sling

If you are tracking wounded game, hunting from a stand, or just moving in rough terrain, you need to be able to free your rifle and fire it when necessary. For those situations, a backpack rifle sling offers a hands-free and stable carry solution. These slings use straps that wrap around the shoulder like a backpack so you can hold your weapon securely and quickly when the need arises.

A backpack rifle sling uses two parts, a holster-like pocket that attaches to the hip belt of your pack and holds the butt stock of the gun, and a barrel strap that is attached to one of the backpack straps near or at the sternum strap. Typically, a section of the rifle sling passes around the barrel and goes through a camming buckle to cinch it into the holster, and when you need to unholster it, you simply flip open the camming buckle and the forend of the gun lifts away from the holster to be positioned on your back.

The SlingHook by Talarik is a simple, low-cost accessory that is ideal for those who want to be able to free their rifle when needed without taking the backpack off of their shoulders. The sling tethers to the shoulder strap with a clip that catches your rifle sling and keeps it on your shoulder, and you can adjust the angle of the sling to set it at your preferred angle. The sling can be mounted on either side of the bag, so you can easily reach your gun when you are trekking up a ridge or out of the brush, and it also integrates with the Krux Frame, Xcurve Frame, and R3 Frame bags, but not with the Avail 2200.
