A Revolutionary Man-Portable Irregular Flamethrower

The M2 portable flame thrower is an innovation of the Israeli Defense Force. It is an upgraded version of the Israeli version of the flamethrowers, which were carried in packs on the back of soldiers. These units are most commonly known by the name “kelm.” The M2 is actually a man-portable backpack flamethrower attached to a backpack with two tanks of lube fuel and a nitrogen igniter.

The world war ii produced a requirement for portable flamethrowers that could be used by the occupying forces during the ground war. In addition, the design gave Soldiers easy time of mobility and flexibility when required to move between objectives without much fuss or bother. This allowed the troops to advance with much ease and not become disoriented and lose their bearings. The Israeli designers reproduced this basic concept and made it even more user friendly by making the backpack flamethrower as man-portable as possible.

The M2 flamethrowers have been used extensively in many conflicts around the world and have often been the choice weapon of choice by both sides. The most common military use of these man-portable Flamethrowers is as a lightweight emergency back up to lighten the load for the troops that advance behind the lines. A quick pull of the trigger produces a thrust of upwards of 2021 ft, enough to light a building on fire, or set a vehicle on fire. This makes them ideal for clearing buildings and other obstacles from the path of advancing enemy troops. However, the M2 flamethrowers can also be used as a rapid-fire self-contained ignition source for personal protection against a fire attack from an enemy who may sneak up behind you.
