Pensacola Backpack Events to Help Families Get Ready For Back-To-School

The sparkling blue waters and flawless white sand are part of what makes Pensacola famous, but there’s more to this coastal Florida city than beaches. The town has plenty of cultural highlights and even a professional sports team to keep visitors entertained.

As you might expect from a seaside town, Pensacola is overflowing with restaurants that serve fresh seafood. Try Atlas Oyster House, Nick’s Boathouse, and Jerry’s Bistreaux for mouthwatering meals. The area also has a number of healthy options to help you preserve your beach body. Check out So Chopped, Nomadic Eats, and Lucy’s in the Square for satisfying dishes that also offer plenty of nutrients.

Many families across Escambia and Santa Rosa counties are looking for ways to help their kids get back-to-school ready this year. Thanks to generous donors and community organizers, several back-to-school events are taking place in the region to help.

One of the best is taking place at the Pensacola Interstate Fairgrounds on Aug. 5 from 9 a.m. to noon. Local Blue Cross Blue Shield affiliate Florida Blue is sponsoring the free event, which will provide families with backpacks, school supplies, haircuts, and community resources as long as supplies last.

The historic downtown district is a great place to find one-of-a-kind items to bring home from your trip to Pensacola. Shops like So Gourmet, Indigeaux Denim Bar, and Rusted Arrow are full of charming boutique goods you won’t find anywhere else. If you prefer big-name brands, Pensacola has you covered there, too.
